Beautiful mountain views with the most beautiful garden. To be in nature but only 2 minutes by car away from Swellendam and restaurants, was perfect. The staff is super friendly and helpful. We will come back!

We just LOVE Somerset Gift! We stayed in Fish Eagle.
We just LOVE Somerset Gift! We stayed in Fish Eagle. From the view and facilities to the helpfulness of the farm mangeress, Tanya, everything was lovely. Tanya went out of her way to make sure that we were comfortable and gave us all a very warm welcome (including the fur kids!). There are beautiful waterfalls and rockpools that you can hike to and there is also a river and a dam with kayaks.
There is a huge indoor fireplace for the winter getaways and a huge undercover outdoor braai with dinner table and chairs. We brought board games, cards and puzzles and had endless laughs around the table.
If I absolutely had to moan about something, it would be the pressure of the shower. It is very low and soft - but! ....honestly we were swimming so much it really wasn't a big thing. I just can't think of anything else that was a negative :-)
The wood fire hot tub outside is a super bonus!
We will definitely be back!

What a surprise awaited us.
What a surprise awaited us. This town has a very warm and relaxed atmosphere and we didn't plan long enough to stay and explore all that it has to offer. A one night stop over was not enough. Colonial and Dutch influences in the architecture and a lovely selection of shops and restaurants and places of historical interest, which we simply didn't have time to see, but will be back to explore.

The TV did not work.
The TV did not work. When we checked it was broken and it looked like the lady hosting us knew about it but did not care to mention that. When we call about this TV not working at night she said I quote "Just press all the buttons until something happens sir" we were shocked! In the morning her apology for this also did not sound sincere as you could tell she was well aware that it does not work. Went to the bathroom at night and when switching on the light the electricity blew and the whole place did not have lights for the rest of the night. When we mentioned this in the morning it was a known issue and they blamed load shedding for it.
My partner was looking forward to swimming the pool was GREEN! and quite clearly not been maintained for years. It is nothing like what you see on the listing, you would be scared to even stick a finger in it. It's the type of dirt that you can't see at the bottom of it. We asked for the bicycles they said we could use on the listing and there were only two bicycles, the one had a flat tire so we couldn't use it. The other one that we had to share was not maintained well and also had a chain locking the whole time. We were just shocked that there are only two bicycles available for guests.
The Restaurant on the other hand was a pleasant experience. The gentleman hosting is very friendly and authentic it's amazing. The food is value for money as well. Had one of the most amazing meals the free breakfast is also good value and a proper meal. Wifi good and the music is lovely and the place all together has nice indoor and outdoor calming seating. We could come back for the dining experience it was exceptional. My partner and I spent the week talking about how calm and authentic the gentlemen hosting us were. He was just an exceptional experience I can't stress enough.
In summary, we would come back to dine definitely!. But to sleep No, don't see how they justify the cost for it as well.

In the past I always just passed Swellendam on my way to another destination. This time I spent three days and what a beautiful historical town it is, surrounded by the Langeberg mountains. Friendly people and excellent food especially De Vagebond restaurant where we also had the opportunity to watch the rugby during loadshedding and experienced the lovely Ostrich meat dishes!
The dinner 5 course meal we had was outstanding and was great value for money. The waterbed was a highlight as we felt so relaxed after sleeping on it and size of the rooms was nice and big. The fireplace in the lounge area of our room was used during the cold winter nights. Also the facial at the spa was something my wife said was very good. We also liked that they washed our car before we left so that was a generous touch.
Super layout with 2 large bedrooms, front and back patios to relax on in the sun, lovely braai area, dishwasher and washing machine in the kitchen. Bathrooms were great and lots of towels (bath and for swimming).
Beds were very comfortable.
Unit is in walking distance to the Drosty Museum, Happily coffee shop, Bokmakiri and La Belle Alliance, as well as Grace and Merci and the Saturday Farmer's market.
The room is huge and has all amenities that you need to cook. Also there is a gas stove so you can still cook during load shedding and a generator that works as well during load shedding. Shower is always hot. Safe area and helpful staff. Good place to stay if you want to visit Marloth Park. I walked there in 20 mins. Highly recommend a stayover in Swellendam to see museum and take in beauty of mountains.
The host was extremely responsive and prompt to reply when we had questions or concerns. She even walked over when we arrived to ensure that we made it to the right house, which can be tricky to find with gps. The farmhouse is a sweet rustic construction, with pretty much everything our family needed for a comfortable stay. Perfect stopping point between Cape Town and the garden route.
On arrival the welcome was warm and friendly, including the willingness to go the extra mile if the need arises. Loved the feel at home cozy room, the pool and the area around the pool. Elianthe Guesthouse will definitely see my wife and I again, hopefully sooner than later, Thank you for very much Cliff and Elize Sands.
Situated on a farm so do not expect a hotel room. Self catering at its best. A no for a corporate wannabe but great for the individual that loves the outdoors. I stayed for the second time on a business trip and all I can say is wow. Well rested the next morning. The hostess, Landi, is a charm. Going back in Jan 2024.
This hotel is a gem. It is located a the outskirts of Swellendam near some restaurants in two historic early 19th century buildings. It is surrounded by a beautiful garden with springboks and a zebra. There is a small pool. A great breakfast is served. All is very clean.
The Apartment was equipped with everything you need . I liked that it had a braai just on the balcony where I stayed.
I enjoyed my stay there. I stayed in quite a few places in Swellendam this past 2 months and this self catering apartment was the best so far.
Very spacious and everything needed for self catering was available. With loadshedding, they have decent backup to keep wifi, TV and other basics going. Safe and secure, great place and will definitely book again if visiting Swellendam in future.
Location great .
Quiet area , apartment has all the necessary facilities for a short stay .
they supply braai wood and a Braai.
There is a restaurant and shop on the property .
Staff were very helpfull .
